The Coming Anarchy as Lawlessness Sweeps The Nation
By Bill Wilson
Crime is about to increase in nearly every city of the United States. And the law abiding people are going to be upset that their lives and personal property are no longer protected by the local authorities. The local authorities are going to blame the problem on reduced property taxes, reduced income and reduced sales taxes. Here comes the collision of a lack of fiscal responsibility, overspending, and malfeasance with the government's primary responsibility to protect its citizens. The aftermath of this social wreck will determine the direction of this nation. The collective failings of those who call themselves "Christian" are about to reach a titration point in society where light could be overcome by darkness.
Let's bring the problem into clear focus. One example is reported by the St. Louis Dispatch website which tells the story of a lively special East St Louis city council meeting where Mayor Alvin Parks announced that the city would lay off about a third of its police force and 11 firefighters. The story quotes Straightway Baptist Church Pastor Joseph Tracy as saying, "It's open field day now. The criminals are going to run wild." Tracy says he is worried about gang activity, drug dealing, even cold blooded murders filling the vacuum of the laid off police officers. One of the Councilmen told the meeting that "You lay off when you don't have the money. The money's gone."
Then the real story is revealed in the meeting. The city proposed a 20% pay cut and two unpaid leave days during a monthly pay period. This would have saved the jobs and brought the budget into alignment. The labor union for the officers and firefighters, however, refused to accept the proposal, so the city opted for the layoffs. Now everybody is in an uproar over the possibilities that crime will be rampant in the streets. This is similar to the situation in Oakland, Ca., where some 80 police officers were laid off, essentially causing businesses in certain areas to board up their windows and shut down. Other cities are experiencing similar situations.
Jesus Christ said in Matthew 24:12, "And because lawlessness shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold." The love that we share for one another as citizens of this nation, as well as Kingdom people, will surely be tested in the months ahead. Politicians from the local level through Congress and the presidency have spent citizens' money to deficits at all levels of government. This "lawlessness" is truly the lack of God's law being practiced in the hearts' of men. It is because good people have elected, even allowed, public servants to become the masters. Soon our lives and property will be at risk from criminal elements--either the anarchist thugs or the socialist government. Its time to repent and stand.
