Today I went out to buy a few more items that I needed to
take with me to Ohio. Here is the problem: I keep thinking
of more things to buy. Sooner or later I will need to
take out a loan just to make the necessary additions. And,
much as I hate to admit it, the laptop will just have to
wait. Right now my budget doesn't include this luxury,
although I wanted to upload some pictures of my trip as I
zipped through Cincinatti and Columbus, Ohio. Oh well, I
will post a few pics when I get back.
I just read a great promo for World Net Daily's new issue
of Whistleblower Magazine: "WHY ARE CHRISTIANS LOSING
AMERICA?" In this group of articles they explain how our
country is becoming anti-Christian even though there is an
overwhelming majority (80%) of believers.
The Bible predicts that the last church of this age will be
characterized by lukewarmness. Many Christians are woefully
indifferent to God's plan and purpose for the church as
well as their own individual lives. Some denominations have
literally turned their back on the nation of Israel and
openly embraced terrorist organizations. Much of today's
preaching and teaching is either self-centered or
superficial and the average Christian is woefully lacking
a Biblical worldview.
Just from my own experience in preaching the last 20+
years, I've seen very little Holy Spirit conviction, too
much counterfeit emotionalism, and very little concern
for others, especially the lost. We'll worry ourselves sick
about the prayer list (yes, it is important), but totally
forget about the lost in our communities. We try to
substitute spirituality with activities (See the Church of
Sardis, Rev. 3:1-2). Many love the church, but not Christ.
The Bible teaches that Christ's return will be similar to a
woman in travail, the closer we get to His return,
the closer and more severe these birth pangs will become. So,
don't get discouraged. Jesus has already told us that this would
come to pass. Listen to what He says:
"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up,
and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh"
(Luke 21:28).
